Selling business

The decision to sell a business often results from the business portfolio analysis, either in an offensive or defensive strategy phase. This analysis leads to consider a business unit or an activity as “non-core” or “non-strategic”. When a company does not want or is unable to devote sufficient management time to a carve out, a transition manager can lead the divestment of the activity. Usually, the group gives a parallel mandate to an M & A firm.
